With a solid cylindrical black lacquered ash wooden frame, and the original warm yellow velvet upholstery. The deep-cushioned seats are held in place by black leather straps which are tied into the frame in a nice way. This sofa, named after a historic Venetian family has a timeless character. Carlo Scarpa, born on June 2, 1906, in Venice, Italy, was a renowned Italian architect and designer. Scarpa’s legacy is recognized through great attention to detail, and a delicate combination of modernism, historicism and craftsmanship. Scarpa initially gained recognition for his innovative glass designs with Venini & C. in the 1930s. In the post-war era, he expanded into architecture, creating iconic structures like the Olivetti showroom and the Brion Cemetery. Carlo Scarpa passed away on November 28, 1978, leaving behind a lasting impact on the world of architecture and design. Scarpa’s Son Tobia Scarpa was greatly inspired and later followed his footsteps together with his wife Afra Scarpa to become a great influence in the Italian design.
