Pair of Canada P110 chairs in cognac leather by Osvaldo Borsani for Tecno, Italy 1965
Pair of Canada P110 chairs in cognac leather by Osvaldo Borsani for Tecno, Italy 1965
Beautiful pair of ‘Canada’ lounge chairs model P110 designed by Osvaldo Borsani by Tecno, Italy 1965.
The Canada chair is constructed by 2 moulded plywood side panels, connected with 2 bent wooden cross bars, which holds the frame in place. The beautiful patinated cognac leather upholstered cushion structure hangs in the frame and is connected with wooden caps. These particular chairs can be recognized as early models because of these wooden caps.
gThe Canada seating series was developed from some rough initial sketches by Valeria Borsani and Marco Fantoni while they were still young university students. Later when Osvaldo Borsani saw these designs, he invited the budding designers to develop their idea. However, after they made a few uncertain attempts, Borsani took the project in hand and put his own character into the design, creating the Canada chair we know today. This pair is a very nice example of this iconic design with lots of character in the beautifully patinated cognac leather. The combination of the calm walnut wooden base with the soft tan cognac leather brings a calm and warm feeling to these beautiful chairs.
