Pierre Thielen lounge chair in cognac leather, Metz & Co, 1960s
Pierre Thielen lounge chair in cognac leather, Metz & Co, 1960s
Incredible sling lounge chair designed by Pierre Thielen and sold at Metz & Co, The Netherlands 1960s. The frame is constructed with solid steel, connected by a visually pleasing bolt connection, similar to Poul Kjaerholm’s designs. This detail makes the frame construction a visually pleasing part of the design. The cognac saddle leather seat is attached within this frame and provides great support. The shapes of the cut-out provide comfort and shape to the leather to provide great support. The newly upholstered head cushion in a beautiful cream colored fine linnen fabric gives the chair additional comfort and a nice look. As this chair was expensive to be made, it was not produced in great numbers, making it a rare find. Besides its stunning design, this chair is highly comfortable.
Metz & Co was an avant garde warehouse that sold only the best Dutch and international designs. It is unknown who produced this chair, and it is assumed the personal blacksmith from Metz and Co. hand made these chairs.
