Incredible pair of Italian wall lights or sconces from the 1970s, made from walnut wood and paper.

Each light features a square patchwork paper shade with a sculptural design of curved walnut slats arranged across the front. The slats gradually widen towards the centre, creating an circular silhouette within the square frame.

The dark walnut contrasts with the warm tone and delicate texture of the paper. When illuminated, the paper filters the light into a soft glow, highlighting the layered construction and the curved edges of the wood which appear to be floating in front of the paper.

Two slender vertical supports and a wooden frame hold the composition together, extending beyond the shade at the top and bottom. Decorative even when unlit, these wall lights bring welcoming warmth and sculptural detail to any space.
